A 50-year-old traffic constable was killed after being hit by a container truck near Retteri junction on Saturday (September 20, 2025) night.
Avadi police said Ravikumar was a resident of the Madhavaram Police quarters. After finishing work, he was riding his two wheeler back home from Puzhal. When he was on the 200-feet radial road near the Retteri junction along the Kolkata Highway, a speeding container lorry proceeding to Kamarajar port hit his two-wheeler.
In the impact, he fell down and the truck ran over him. Immediately the locals alerted the Madhavaram Traffic Investigation police who rushed him to a private hospital. However, he died in the early hours on Sunday.
Later the container lorry driver Ramesh Shah from Bihar was arrested for causing the accident.
