The ongoing targeting of foreign nationals is continuing with the latest, the killing of a beloved spaza shop owner in Bonteheuwel on Tuesday night.
Umar, a 31-year-old Somali national was serving customers at his Assegaai Street shop in Bonteheuwel when gunmen struck.
He sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest and was declared deceased at the scene.
Provincial police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that the motive for the murder remains under investigation.
Van Wyk reported: “On Monday, 13 July at about 7.52pm, Bishop Lavis SAPS members attended a shooting incident at a shop in Assegaai Street, Bonteheuwel.
