The eThekwini Municipality believes that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fuze Business Initiative could improve agricultural development at the Cottonlands and Ottawa Agri-Park Incubator sites, north of Durban.
The municipality intends to enter into a three-year MoU with Fuze to support capacity development for microenterprises and infrastructure development.
In a report presented to council by the municipality’s Economic Development and Planning Committee (EDPC), the municipality stated that it has strategically positioned the Agri-business Division to facilitate and implement Agri-Business Development Programmes, target and support Agri-Business investment, and provide research, policy, and innovation services.
“Strategic partnerships such as the proposed collaboration with Fuze Business Initiative enable the division to implement initiatives aimed at the provision of commercially scalable agricultural infrastructure, the provision of rental facilities that lower barriers to entry, the improvement of access to sustainable markets, and the promotion of wealth and job creation,” the municipality stated.
