The eThekwini Municipality will improve its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) scope with the Moses Kotane Research Institute (MKRI).
The eThekwini Municipality will create an overarching Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Moses Kotane Research Institute (MKRI) to strengthen intergovernmental and institutional collaboration in line with the municipality's strategic objectives.
In a report before council on Tuesday, the municipality stated that the current MOU between eThekwini Municipal Academy and MKRI is limited in scope and does not adequately cater for the needs of other municipal directorates.
According to the municipality, the MOU will achieve five key objectives, including equitable access to MKRI's services across all relevant directorates and promoting integrated planning and implementation of research, skills development, and innovation programmes.
Also, the MOU will improve efficiency, governance, and accountability in managing external partnerships. Lastly, it will leverage the economy of scale and ensure optimal utilisation of resources.
