The late former KwaZulu-Natal Division of the High Court Judge President, Achmat Naeem Jappie.
A gentleman of note, a kind leader, and a judge who treated everyone with dignity. These were some of the tributes paid to the late former KwaZulu-Natal Judge President, Achmat Naeem Jappie, during a memorial sitting at the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Monday.
Jappie passed away on April 22, 2026, after a short illness.
Leading the tributes, the current Judge President of the KwaZulu-Natal Division of the High Court, Thoba Poyo-Dlwati, described her predecessor as a respectful, kind, and exceptionally calm leader.
“I wish I could be as calm as him,” she said.
