Minister in the Presidency, responsible for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Sindisiwe Chikunga, and her deputy, Mmapaseka "Steve" Letsike.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) has confirmed it is investigating a complaint regarding the alleged irregular filling of posts within the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD), but that this “currently does not extend to the minister or deputy minister”.
This comes after the DWYPD Minister, Sindisiwe Chikunga, and her deputy, Steve Letsike, spoke out against the allegations suggesting that she influenced or facilitated employment opportunities for members of her family within the public service.
The Sunday Times reported that Chikunga and Letsike are being investigated by the PSC for allegedly irregularly filling posts in their private offices and the department with friends and relatives.
The allegations are contained in a whistleblower complaint that was submitted to the PSC in March 2026, which accuses them of improperly handing out a range of posts, from chief director to food aide.
