The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities has denied allegations that Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga influenced appointments to benefit relatives and associates, describing the claims as false.
Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Sindisiwe Chikunga has rejected allegations that her family members were allegedly appointed to positions within her offices despite being unqualified.
The department has dismissed allegations of nepotism and political favouritism involving the offices of Chikunga and her deputy Steve Letsike.
The department said it had noted with "serious concern" allegations published by the media suggesting that Chikunga influenced or facilitated employment opportunities for members of her family within the public service.
"Minister Chikunga categorically rejects these allegations as false and misleading," said spokesperson Cassius Selala.
