Social Development Minister Dina Pule has defended her appointment amid criticism over her suitability for the position, saying public office comes with scrutiny and committing to carry out her responsibilities with humility and accountability.
Pule was responding to questions at a media briefing on Tuesday about calls questioning her suitability for office and allegations linked to her time as Communications Minister.
This comes after she was removed from Cabinet in 2013 after Parliament’s Ethics Committee and the Public Protector found that she had breached the Executive Members’ Ethics Code while serving as Communications Minister.
The findings related to her failure to disclose a relationship that resulted in improper benefits linked to her department.
