U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.5% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 fell 0.1% in morning trading. Gjensidige Forsikring rose 4.1% and ENI rose 2.7%. On the other hand, Plus500 slipped 8.3%, and Kongsberg Gruppen lost 7.3%. The FTSE 100 added 0.3%. Other stocks in Europe were down as France's CAC 40 decreased 0.1% and Germany's DAX dropped 0.1%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index climbed 0.1% to 97.31.
In commodities, Brent crude gained 3.8% to $78.89 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 3.6% to $73.98 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was up 3.8% to 50.63 euros a megawatt hour.
The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 4 basis points to 3.113% from 3.071%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by 2 basis points to 4.58% from 4.562%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
