There are footballers who are remembered for the trophies they win and the goals they score. Then there are those who leave behind something greater — the feeling that they still had so much more to give.
Jayden Adams belonged to the latter.
South African football is still struggling to come to terms with the death of the Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana midfielder, whose life was cut tragically short at the age of 25. Only days earlier, Adams had been living every footballer’s dream.
He had represented South Africa at the Fifa World Cup, featuring in three of Bafana Bafana’s four matches as Hugo Broos’ side reached the knockout stages for the first time in the country’s history.
