The shocking passing of Adams comes just weeks after he suffered the loss of his 72-year-old grandmother, Marianna Adams, on June 17 – only a day before he and his Bafana teammates faced Czechia in their 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage match in Atlanta.
Despite his personal grief, Adams enjoyed an impressive World Cup run with Bafana, helping the national team make history by reaching the tournament's knockout rounds for the first time. South Africa was eventually eliminated in the Round of 32 following a narrow 1-0 defeat to co-hosts Canada.
