The group argued that law enforcement agencies must exercise their powers strictly within the limits prescribed by the Constitution and other extant laws, insisting that questions surrounding jurisdiction and due process must not be ignored simply because the detainees have been released.

The Young Nigerian Rights Organisation (YNRO) has welcomed the release of two young men arrested in Ubulu-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, but says their freedom does not resolve serious constitutional and legal concerns surrounding the exercise of police powers and jurisdiction.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the group's Lead Activist, Comrade Victor Ojei, popularly known as Wong Box Nigeria, called on the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to immediately investigate what the organisation alleged was an abuse of jurisdiction by officers attached to the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja.

According to the statement, although the two young men have regained their freedom, they were allegedly directed by the police to report to the Force Intelligence Department in Abuja on Monday, July 13, 2026, as part of their bail conditions.

The rights organisation further stated that one of the conditions attached to their bail requires Comrade Victor Ojei to undertake responsibility for a sum of N5,000,000 (Five Million Naira) should the two young men fail to appear before the police in Abuja on the scheduled date.
