Sources told SaharaReporters that the activist’s arrest followed his repeated criticism of the administration of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and Deputy Governor Onyeme, who is also from Ndokwa West.
A Delta State-based activist, John Paul, has reportedly been arrested and detained by the police over his criticism of the state government and Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme.
John Paul, said to be from Emu-Ebendo community in the Ndokwa West Local Government Area, is currently being held at the police headquarters in Asaba, according to family members and community sources.
Sources told SaharaReporters that the activist’s arrest followed his repeated criticism of the administration of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and Deputy Governor Onyeme, who is also from Ndokwa West.
According to the sources, tension escalated after the deputy governor allegedly made comments during a visit to the community suggesting that residents should appreciate the road projects executed in the area because they had not witnessed such developments before.
