Within the area controlled by the Joint Forces Task Force, combat operations remain intense; Ukrainian defenders are preventing the enemy from gaining a foothold in Kupiansk and from establishing a bridgehead in Lyman.
According to a Ukrinform correspondent, Viktor Tregubov, head of the Communications Department of the Joint Forces Task Force, stated this on a television broadcast.
“We are seeing high-intensity combat operations: there have been 39 clashes over the past 24 hours. This is our area of control—the Kharkiv region, plus Lyman, plus the eastern part of the Sumy region. Overall, the most active fighting is taking place in the Lyman area—this is a key focus of the occupiers’ efforts, because it is very important for them to establish a foothold in Lyman to advance toward the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration area,” Tregubov said.
According to him, the enemy has been unable to gain a foothold in Lyman effectively, despite an offensive from three directions.
“There have been attempts from the north and from the south, but the most active attempts are coming from the east, where they are advancing through a long, wide kill zone, through a long ‘gray zone,’ and trying to capture the eastern outskirts of the city and establish a foothold in individual buildings. Nevertheless, they are being prevented from gaining a foothold,” the spokesperson explained.
