Russian forces have intensified combat operations in the Lyman sector, attempting to advance and establish positions in certain areas.
According to Ukrinform, Viktor Tregubov, Spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group, announced this while speaking on national television.
"The fighting is extremely intense, especially in the Lyman area. There is a very high number of combat engagements," he said.
According to Tregubov, Russian troops are making persistent attempts to secure positions on the eastern outskirts of Lyman.
"Despite suffering heavy losses, they are now very actively trying to throw in any number of personnel they can so that, one way or another, they can establish footholds in the city's eastern districts. The overall increase in combat intensity across our area of responsibility is directly linked to this. Above all, it is due to the growing Russian activity around Lyman," he said.
