A 60-year-old man is expected to appear in the Grabouw Magistrate’s Court in the Western Cape on Monday, July 13, for possession of drugs worth R2.1 million.
The arrest comes after a routine vehicle checkpoint in Grabouw on the N2 Highway.
The provincial spokesperson for the Hawks, Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi, said the operation consisted of a multi-disciplinary team of officers.
“A multi-disciplinary team comprising members of the Hawks' South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB), Provincial Traffic based in Caledon, and the Cape Town K9 Unit acted on intelligence when they conducted a routine vehicle checkpoint (VCP) in Grabouw on the N2 Highway on Thursday, July 9,” Vukubi said.
