Cape Town will honour the legacy of 19-year-old Creashy Maart by fulfilling her dream of hosting a prom for young cancer fighters just like her.
This, as the Mother City grieves one of its bravest children who died of cancer in the early hours of Thursday morning.
As soon as the news of Creashy's death was announced, social media platforms lit up with messages of condolences and comfort for her heartbroken family and friends.
Diagnosed with lung issues at just two weeks old, she finally received a new set of lungs last year. It was supposed to be her second chance.
Sadly those very lungs meant to give her life became the site of life-threatening cancer and she was told by doctors in January that there is no cure for her.
