Kwara Youth for Good Governance (KYFGG), a political advocacy group, has called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to support the emergence of Femi Sanni (ARABA) as the party’s Governorship candidate in Kwara State for the 2027 election.

In an open letter signed by Salman Idris, the group convener, argued that the ruling party needs “leadership, not another compromise,” insisting that the choice of its next flag bearer should be based on competence, capacity and the ability to unite the party rather than religious or political considerations.

According to the group, Sanni, a founding member of the APC in Kwara State, possesses the experience, loyalty and broad acceptability required to strengthen the party ahead of the next governorship election.

Addressing concerns over Sanni’s Christian faith, the group argued that Kwara’s longstanding tradition of peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians made religion a non-issue, adding that a balanced ticket would reflect the state’s inclusive political culture.

It further stated that the APC’s dominant position in Kwara provided it with the confidence to nominate a candidate based on merit rather than political expediency.
