The Kwara State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress has called on residents of the state to reject godfatherism, candidate imposition and what it described as incompetent leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The call was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Ibraheem Gbagba, saying Kwara was at a critical political juncture and that voters should prioritise competence, credibility and integrity over political influence.
The party said Kwarans had, over the years, grappled with poor governance, unemployment, inadequate infrastructure and limited economic opportunities, adding that the 2019 “O To Ge” political movement reflected the people’s desire for change.
According to the statement, the experience of the past few years has shown that changing political parties alone does not guarantee good governance.
“For decades, the people of Kwara State have endured poor governance, underdevelopment, unemployment, inadequate infrastructure and a lack of opportunities.
