At least three people were shot dead in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain last night.
Western Cape police have increased the deployment of officers to Mitchells Plain and Philipphi-East following two deadly mass shootings on Wednesday night.
SAPS has also appealed to anyone with information on the shootings that left seven people dead and five others injured.
The deployment by Western Cape SAPS comes in the wake of a shooting in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain which left three people dead and a seperate mass murder in Philippi- East where seven people were killed.
Police spokesperson Colonel André Traut confirmed detectives are investigating both incidents, which unfolded within minutes of each other on the evening of 8 July 2026. The first shooting occurred at around 8.10pm at the corner of Laura Street and 8th Avenue in Lost City, Tafelsig. According to Traut, five men were standing outside a local tuck shop when they were approached by armed suspects who opened fire.
