Tighthead Wilco Louw will anchor the Springbok scrum in his first Test of 2026 against Scotland in Pretoria on Saturday.

Springbok tighthead Wilco Louw admits 2026 has been one of the toughest years of his life, but says the unwavering support of his family, teammates and the national management has helped him navigate an emotional period both on and off the field.

Louw lost his father, Marius, earlier this year just months after deciding to return to the Cape from Pretoria to be closer to his family.

The loss forced rugby into the background for a time, but as he prepares for his first Test appearance of the season in the Nations Championship against Scotland on Saturday, the Stormers prop says the support he received within the Bok camp reminded him that the bond shared by the squad extends far beyond what happens on the field.

“I appreciated the time to be with my family,” Louw said of the time off afforded to him by the Springboks management.
