Elrigh Louw is back in the Springboks' fold.
Springboks loose forward Elrigh Louw has been called up to the national squad as additional forward cover for the inaugural Nations Championship campaign.
Louw is scheduled to join his South African teammates at the squad's training base in Johannesburg on Tuesday. The powerful back-row forward played the last of his 13 Test matches against Wales in November 2024, before enduring a deeply frustrating 2025 international and domestic season on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury.
The abrasive loose forward returned to full fitness this year, making an immediate, powerful impact in the Bulls engine room. His initial exclusion from the squad came as a bit of a suprise to many after attending the Springbok alignment camps.
Louw's physical presence and versatility across the back row give head coach Rassie Erasmus more options, especially at blindside flank.
