Springboks tighhead prop Wilco Louw is bracing for a big scrum battle with his old friend, Scottish loosehead Pierre Schoeman, on Saturday in Pretoria.

Springbok tighthead Wilco Louw is looking forward to returning to familiar surroundings at Loftus Versfeld but expects Scotland to arrive well prepared for Saturday’s Nations Championship clash in Pretoria.

Louw is back in the starting XV after sitting out last weekend’s emphatic victory over England, with the world champions looking to back up that performance against a Scotland side capable of posing a different challenge.

Having spent the past three seasons at the Bulls ahead of a return to the Stormers, Louw knows Loftus as well as anyone and admits playing at one of South Africa’s most intimidating venues always carries extra significance.

While altitude has often been viewed as an advantage for the Springboks, Louw believes international teams have become increasingly smarter when it comes to their preparation for conditions and are no longer caught off guard.
