Google-linked affiliate Housebound Group LLC has filed for two data center projects in Haskell, Texas, with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).Both data centers are planned for 1362 Red Creek Road in Haskell and will each see $400 million invested.Journey 1A started construction on April 1, 2026, and is expected to be completed by late August 2027. The data center is set to span 285,280 sq ft (26,505 sqm).Journey 2A, meanwhile, will span 210,420 sq ft (19,550 sqm) and started construction on June 23, 2026, and is targeting a completion date in late October.Permits were previously sought for the site from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality by a company called Homebound Group LLC (as opposed to Housebound Group) in February 2026.The Haskell County website tax abatement agreements link Homebound Group to Google. According to those documents, the site being developed spans some 300 acres. The tax abatement agreement for the Journey site was approved in June 2025.Elsewhere in Haskell County is the "Thelma" data center campus under development. According to research from Aterio, Journey lies in the north of Haskell County, while Thelma is in southern Haskell County and has progressed further.A wastewater application for Thelma suggests that five buildings will be established at the site, with the first building spanning 280,000 sq ft (26,015 sqm). A second building has been filed for and will span 350,000 sq ft (32,516 sqm). Total power capacity for the site is estimated by Aterio at around 440MW.A third campus linked to Google received a tax abatement in April 2026 from Haskell County and is being developed by Ascendant Site Solutions LLC.Google is planning a significant expansion of its data center footprint in Texas, having stated in November 2025 that it would invest $40 billion in the state. At the time, the company said that it would expand its existing data center campuses in Ellis County and had three new campuses planned in Armstrong and Haskell Counties.Haskell County is located in northwest Texas, around 50 miles north of Abilene, where Crusoe is currently developing a campus for Microsoft and has completed the flagship data center campus for Oracle/OpenAI.
