A large-scale violent clash erupted overnight in a Roma neighborhood of Asenovgrad, Bulgaria, involving hundreds of people and prompting a heavy police response after the situation escalated into a mass confrontation between two rival families.
The incident occurred shortly before 1:00 a.m. after an emergency call to 112 reported a large fight between two feuding families. What began as a local dispute quickly grew into a chaotic confrontation, with an estimated 250 to 300 people taking part in the melee.
Witnesses and police reports indicate that participants threw various hard objects during the clash, turning the area into what officials described as a “real battlefield” scenario. The confrontation took place in a residential section of the neighborhood where both families live in municipal housing without legal documentation.
During the violence, 12 individuals were injured after being shot with an air rifle. A police officer was also hurt while attempting to restore order and contain the escalation.
Authorities confirmed that law enforcement units were already present in the area due to earlier tensions, but the confrontation broke out despite their presence on site.
