A 50-year-old man has died in the town of Iskar after being attacked over an unpaid restaurant bill of €33.50, according to bTV. Two individuals have been detained in connection with the incident, which occurred during the town’s holiday celebrations, but questions remain over the official account of events.
The confrontation reportedly took place in the early hours of Sunday, when the victim, identified as Galin, was leaving a restaurant and walking nearby streets after a three-day local festival. Investigators say he was struck multiple times, and authorities later confirmed that two suspects are now in custody. The fatal outcome was initially described as resulting from blows delivered with negligent consequences.
Relatives of the victim and of one of the detainees have gathered in the town, publicly disputing the official version and demanding a fuller investigation. Some local residents have also raised concerns about possible omissions in the early stages of the inquiry.
Among the disputed claims are allegations that the case was not properly disclosed for two days and that additional individuals may have been involved. There are also suspicions voiced locally that some surveillance footage from the scene may have been removed or withheld.
