Two hundred and two suspected criminals have been arrested in hideouts and black spots in Asaba metropolis in Delta State Capital as the State Police Command sustain crackdown on criminal activities across the State.
The suspects comprise 102 males and 100 females, were arrested for offences, bordering on operating brothels, possession and sale of suspected illicit drugs, and other related crimes.
The Police operatives also impounded five motor vehicles, 10 tricycles, and 10 motorcycles for violations of extant traffic regulations, the State-imposed restriction on tricycle operations, and the ban on motorcycles in designated areas.
Yemi Oyeniyi, the State Police Commissioner, made the disclosure in a statement by Bright Edafe, the State’s Police spokesman and made available to BusinessDay on Sunday. According to him, the operation, conducted on Saturday was led by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, alongside officers of the Command.
