The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reiterated the command's resolve to sustain similar operations across the state in order to deny criminal elements safe havens.
The Delta State Police Command has arrested 202 suspects during an intelligence-led raid on brothels, suspected illicit drug hideouts and other identified criminal black spots in the Asaba metropolis as part of its sustained crackdown on criminal activities across the state.
The command said the operation, carried out on Saturday, also led to the impoundment of 25 vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles for various traffic violations and violations of state restrictions.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the operation was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations alongside officers of the command.
The statement explained that the raid was intelligence-driven and followed credible information generated by the State Intelligence Department (SID), which identified criminal hideouts, brothels and suspected illicit drug dens within the Asaba metropolis.
