Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested 202 suspects comprising 102 males and 100 females during an intelligence-led raid on criminal hideouts, brothels and suspected illicit drug dens in Asaba, the state capital.

The suspects were arrested for offences ranging from operating brothels to the possession and sale of suspected illicit drugs and other related crimes.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the operation, carried out on Saturday, also led to the impoundment of five vehicles, 10 tricycles and 10 motorcycles for violating extant traffic regulations, including the state government’s restrictions on tricycle operations and the ban on motorcycles in designated areas.

Confirming the operation on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed in a statement that the raid was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations alongside other officers of the command.
