Clive Duffell, founding member of the Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving Club will share how it grew from humble beginnings to national success.
Duffell will present a talk titled Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving Club – From Humble Beginnings to National Success at the Fish Hoek Library side hall on Thursday, July 9.
A lifelong Fish Hoek resident, veteran surfer, former volunteer with the Fish Hoek Fire Brigade and one of the original owners of De Kock Estates, Duffell has been closely involved in the community for decades.
Drawing on his first-hand experiences, he will recount how the Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving Club was established in 1957, when a small group of volunteers operated from a simple beach hut with little more than an old rescue reel and a determination to serve.
