The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has commended the state Police Command for foiling an alleged assassination attempt on the Director-General of its Governorship Campaign Council, Wole Oke.

The state Police Command had on Thursday paraded a disc jockey, Olalekan Oriyomi, and two others over an alleged attempt to assassinate Oke in Ipetu Ijesa.

The other suspects paraded with Oriyomi were Ayotunde Ikupolati, 44, and Femi Fakinleye, 31. An English Beretta pistol loaded with four rounds of live ammunition was also said to have been recovered from one of the suspects.

Reacting to the development in a statement signed by its Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Olabisi, obtained in Osogbo on Friday, the Osun APC lauded the proactive approach of the police in ridding the state of criminal elements.

“Had it been the suspected assassins who succeeded, the state would have been thrown into another mourning session, which the lying merchants in the state would have loaded its causes on our party without waiting for the police investigation.
