The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), with the assistance of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, has detained an associate professor at the research center of a leading military academy under the Ministry of Defense who was acting as an agent for Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB).

According to Ukrinform, the SSU announced the arrest.

The SSU's military counterintelligence, working in coordination with the Minister of Defense, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and the leadership of the military academy, thwarted another Russian attempt to obtain Ukraine's latest developments in unmanned technologies.

As a result of a preemptive operation, officers detained a highly valuable Russian military intelligence agent – working for Russia's Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) – who had been spying for the enemy at one of Ukraine's leading Defense Ministry military academies.

The investigation established that the mole was an associate professor at the academy's research center.
