Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis hosted US Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle at the Maximos Mansion on Wednesday as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of US independence, highlighting what he called the “enduring strength of shared values” between Greece and the United States.

“The history of the past 250 years teaches us that relationships that stand the test of time are those based on solid value-based bonds and not merely on circumstances,” Mitsotakis said in a social media post.

He said the anniversary underscores “the timeless power of the ideas of liberal democracy” and reflects a shared historical path that “extends beyond diplomatic ties.”

Mitsotakis pointed to intellectual links between the American Founding Fathers and Greek revolutionary thinkers, and said the two countries are united by “a steadily strengthening strategic relationship.”

“Our shared values are the greatest guarantee that our strategic cooperation will continue to deepen,” he said.
