US Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle has described Alexandroupoli as a “vital and strategic hub” during her first official visit to the northeastern port city.
“This region has always been such a vital and strategic hub for the United States. I was very much looking forward to this trip,” Guilfoyle said.
She underlined the importance of Alexandroupoli for US-Greek relations and for NATO cooperation, particularly in logistics, military coordination and energy infrastructure.
“Not only is it imperative for the relationship between the United States and Greece, but also for our NATO allies, in the areas of logistics, military cooperation and energy,” she said. “Therefore, we look forward to expanding this effort.”
Guilfoyle said she held “wonderful” discussions with local officials and institutional stakeholders during the visit.
