A visit to Sofia by US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has drawn attention after details of the meetings emerged primarily through social media rather than official announcements from Bulgarian institutions.
In a post on X, Guilfoyle said she had traveled to Bulgaria together with Giuliani and held talks with President Iliana Yotova, Energy Minister Iva Petrova, and other Bulgarian officials. According to the ambassador, discussions focused on opportunities to advance shared energy priorities and strengthen regional cooperation.

“Under the President’s leadership, the United States is working with Greece, Bulgaria, and other partners in the region to advance a shared vision for energy security along the Vertical Gas Corridor,” Guilfoyle wrote.
