The DA factionalism is playing into the public.

Democratic Alliance's cabinet shake-up in the Government of National Unity (GNU) leadership has laid bare deep divisions within the party, with sources saying the changes reflect a shift in power under leader Geordin Hill-Lewis.

Sources familiar with the party's internal discussions said the Cabinet reshuffle has strengthened Hill-Lewis's influence by replacing several senior leaders linked to the previous administration with figures seen as part of his leadership team.

The changes came after President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday, approved every amendment proposed by Hill-Lewis to the DA's representation in the GNU.

Former DA leader John Steenhuisen was removed as Minister of Agriculture and appointed Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, ending his tenure in one of the party's most prominent Cabinet positions.
