Police in Evia have arrested four young men accused of attacking a family and another man in an incident of football-related violence.

The attack took place late on Tuesday in the village of Manoudi as a man, his son, his 12-year-old daughter and another man were leaving celebrations marking a recent victory by their team.

According to police, four supporters of a rival club pulled up alongside the victims’ car, got out and began striking the vehicle. The driver was allegedly punched in the face before managing to drive away and alert the authorities.

Police later tracked down and arrested the four suspects, who were found to be in possession of two folding knives.

The four face charges including forming a gang, causing dangerous bodily harm, criminal damage and violating sports violence and weapons legislation.
