The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission has set Bulgaria’s natural gas price for July at €37.70 per megawatt-hour (MWh), excluding access, transmission, excise duties, and VAT. The approved rate represents a 5.84% increase compared with June levels.
Under the decision, Bulgargaz EAD will supply natural gas at this price to end suppliers and licensed heat energy producers. The regulator noted that despite the monthly rise, the tariff remains competitive for both household and business consumers.
The Commission highlighted that the regulated price is around €4 per MWh lower than July futures on international markets. Benchmark quotes at Europe’s main gas hub TTF are currently around €41-42/MWh, while prices at Bulgaria’s Gas Hub Balkan range between €39 and €42/MWh.
Forecasts from Bulgargaz suggest that the regulated price on the domestic market is unlikely to exceed €40/MWh by the end of the year. The company attributes this expectation to a recent downward trend in global energy prices following the easing of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The supply mix for July includes Azerbaijani gas delivered via the Bulgaria–Greece interconnector (IGB) under a long-term contract with Azerbaijan. Additional volumes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) were secured through contracts with traders following an organized auction process.
