Bulgaria’s state-owned gas supplier Bulgargaz has proposed a slight reduction in natural gas prices for June, suggesting a rate of 35.62 euros per megawatt-hour, according to statements made during an open meeting of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC).
Company head Veselin Sinabov confirmed that the proposed price represents a 1% decrease compared to May, when gas was priced at 35.98 euros per megawatt-hour. The figure does not include additional charges such as access, transmission, excise duties, or VAT.
“The proposed June price is 35.62 euros per MWh, which is about one percent lower than the May level,” Sinabov said, presenting the company’s updated calculation.
Bulgargaz emphasized that the pricing structure continues to benefit from long-term supply arrangements, particularly the contract with Azerbaijan, which remains a key component of Bulgaria’s gas mix delivered via the Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector (IGB). The company also noted that part of the supply has been secured through liquefied natural gas (LNG) purchases arranged via competitive auctions with international traders.
According to the public supplier, the Azerbaijani volumes help keep domestic prices below broader European benchmarks. Officials pointed out that the proposed rate is significantly lower than current futures trading levels on European markets.
