Bulgaria’s state gas supplier Bulgargaz has proposed a higher natural gas price for July, suggesting a rate of 37.70 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), excluding transmission, access charges, excise duty, and VAT. The proposal has been submitted to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) and published on the regulator’s website.
If approved, the new tariff would represent an increase of 5.84 percent compared with June, when the regulated price was set at 35.62 euros per MWh. That figure had been confirmed earlier by the energy regulator for the previous month.
The EWRC is expected to review the application, hold a public discussion, and then take a final decision in a closed session. The approved rate will serve as a benchmark for district heating operators, gas distribution companies, and industrial users across the country.
Bulgaria’s energy regulator notes that adjustments in the wholesale gas price directly affect downstream heating and industrial costs, making the monthly decision a key reference point for the domestic energy market.
