Global human rights organisation, the Amnesty International Nigeria has condemned the abduction of students sitting the ongoing National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations in Lassa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, describing the attack as yet another reminder of the Nigerian government's failure to protect schools from armed groups.

In a statement issued on Monday, the human rights organisation said gunmen disrupted the ongoing examinations at Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, abducting an unspecified number of students while killing two teachers and one student.

"Today gunmen disrupted ongoing NECO examinations at Government Day Secondary School Lassa, Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State with an attack in which an unspecified number of students were abducted, while two teachers and a student were killed," Amnesty International Nigeria said in a statement shared on X handle.
