The group said it would not accept what it described as the abandonment of innocent citizens while those in authority continued with business as usual.

The Socialist Labour movement has criticised the Oyo State and federal governments over what it described as their failure to secure the release of teachers and students abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, accusing the authorities of complacency and demanding urgent action.

In a statement signed by its Oyo State coordinator, Comrade Ogundele Ayo, also known as Ay Struggle, the group expressed concern over what it called the government's silence and lack of urgency in responding to the abduction.

"Socialist Labour strongly condemns the continued failure of the Oyo State Government and the Federal Government to secure the freedom of teachers and students who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State," the statement read.

"The silence, delay, and apparent lack of urgency surrounding their rescue raise serious concerns about the commitment of the authorities to protecting the lives of ordinary Nigerians."
