The groups, in separate statements on Wednesday, described the growing insecurity across Nigeria as unacceptable and called for the immediate rescue of all kidnapped pupils and teachers.
The ongoing protests by teachers in Oyo State over the abduction of pupils and teachers and the killing of an educator during recent attacks on schools have received backing from the Socialist Workers League (SWL) and the Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV).
The groups, in separate statements on Wednesday, described the growing insecurity across Nigeria as unacceptable and called for the immediate rescue of all kidnapped pupils and teachers.
The protests, which began across Oyo State, were triggered by recent attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area, where gunmen abducted teachers, pupils and other residents, while a teacher was gruesomely killed.
In a statement signed by its National Chairperson, Kelvin Ayemhenre, and National Secretary, Amara Nwosu, the Socialist Workers League said the insecurity crisis in Nigeria had reached a dangerous level and accused the government of failing to protect citizens.
