The Socialist Labour has condemned what it described as the failure of the Oyo State and the President Bola Tinubu-led governments to secure the release of teachers and students abducted by gunmen in the Oriire Local Government Area, accusing the authorities of complacency in the face of worsening insecurity.

In a statement issued by its Oyo State chapter and signed by Comrade Ogundele Ayo, popularly known as Ay Struggle, the group criticised what it called the silence, delay and lack of urgency surrounding efforts to rescue the victims.

"Socialist Labour strongly condemns the continued failure of the Oyo State Government and the Federal Government to secure the freedom of teachers and students who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

"The silence, delay, and apparent lack of urgency surrounding their rescue raise serious concerns about the commitment of the authorities to protecting the lives of ordinary Nigerians," the statement read.

The group said it was unacceptable for innocent citizens to remain in captivity while government officials appeared unconcerned.
