The Oyo State chapter of Socialist Labour has criticised the suspension of the stay-at-home strike embarked upon by the Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) over the abduction of the schoolchildren.
The group insisted that ending the industrial action while the abducted teachers and students remain in captivity amounts to abandoning the struggle against insecurity.
The NUT on Wednesday, July 1, announced the suspension of the strike following a directive from its national leadership.
The teachers union in a statement issued and signed by its Oyo State Chairman, Hassan Fatai and the secretary, Olukayode Salami, said the decision followed a review of the security situation and appeals by the Oyo state government and other stakeholders.
