“Shiraz” by Armin Hokmi makes its Greece debut at Pireos 260 under the Athens Epidaurus Festival’s “Voices of Iran” strand. In 1967, Iranian Empress Farah Pahlavi inaugurated the Shiraz Arts Festival at Persepolis, a movement blending tradition until it was banned after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Hokmi, born in Iran and working between Norway and Germany, revisits archives of this forbidden festival to connect with a past he never lived. On stage, seven dancers move to industrial beats and traditional Iranian melodies, entering ecstatic, hypnotic state, using footsteps as time, forming memory and connection. Tickets start at €5 from more.com.
