Authorities in Canada have charged 17 people for illegally flying drones around World Cup venues and fan zones in Toronto, despite repeated warnings that unmanned aircraft are strictly prohibited in designated tournament areas.
The Toronto Police disclosed on Thursday, June 25, 2026, reported that one additional person had been charged under Canadian Aviation Regulations after allegedly flying a drone around Toronto Stadium on June 24, bringing the total number of individuals charged since June 10 to 17.
Issuing a fresh warning to football fans and drone operators, police stressed that drones are not allowed in or around key World Cup locations.
“A reminder for fans with gadgets! Drones are not permitted above or around Centennial Park – no exceptions. Let’s keep the skies clear,” Toronto Police said in a statement posted on social media.
