Since the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 11, US federal authorities have seized more than 300 unauthorized drones across host cities. Four individuals in Texas now face federal charges for violating restricted airspace near tournament venues.
The FBI, FAA, and Department of Homeland Security have deployed advanced detection systems capable of identifying and neutralizing rogue drones near stadiums and fan festivals. The result is the most aggressive aerial enforcement operation ever mounted for a FIFA event on US soil.
The numbers tell the story
North Texas has been the epicenter of violations. More than 53 drones have been confiscated in the region, with 34 seized near the Arlington stadium and another 19 at the Dallas Fair Park Fan Fest site.
Atlanta isn’t far behind, reporting between 21 and 26 unauthorized drone seizures. One arrest there involved an undocumented individual who had a prior felony record.
