Junior Springbok coach Kevin Foote is more than happy for Riley Norton to focus on his Springbok opportunity as South Africa begin the defence of their Junior World Championship title in Georgia on Saturday (6.30pm kick-off).
The highly rated lock is currently involved with the senior national set-up and will not feature in the Junior Boks’ opening plans for the tournament. For Foote, however, the exposure to the world champions is a valuable part of Norton’s development and one that could pay dividends in the long term.
While Norton is physically removed from the Junior Boks, Foote says the youngster has remained invested in the team’s campaign from afar.
“Riley’s feet right now are in South Africa, and I think that he’s obviously got a lot to take in when he’s with the senior team,” Foote said.
