Young utility back Luan Giliomee will start in the No 15 jersey for the Junior Springboks in their opening match of the World Rugby U20 Championship against Uruguay on Saturday. He picked up valuable experience as part of the SA 'A' team ahead of the tournament.

The Junior Springboks will look to follow their winning blueprint of last season and stick to their rotation policy as they look to defend their World Rugby U20 Championship title in Georgia.

However, for the first clash of the tournament on Saturday, head coach Kevin Foote has selected an almost full-strength squad, allowing certain players who were with the SA 'A' team to integrate into their plans slowly.

Experienced prop Rambo Kubheka takes over the leadership duties for the SA U20s’ first pool match against Uruguay, with hooker Siposethu Mnebelele among the replacements.

The starting pack features Kubheka, hooker Liam van Wyk, and tighthead Luan van der Berg in the front row, with Jaythen Orange and JD Hattingh pairing up in the second row. The loose trio consists of Risima Khosa, Gert Kemp, and Vuyo Gwiji.
